Transcriptions - audio and video transcription software for MAC

This free software program can be used for transcription of audio and video material with an Apple Computer (MAC OS X10.5+). This program works with a Rich-Text-Editor and a Media-Player, including more and extended control functions such as variable playback speed, length of the rewind interval and more. All functions can be operated with shortcuts. Also very convenient is to work with the USB-footswitch for playing and stopping file. The program can play all data-formats supported by the Quick-Time-Player.

As in f4audio (for PC) you can set time-markers. Time-markers are an important aid, allowing you to quickly find the original source. Time-markers are inserted by using "Control + t" or automatically. If you click on a time-marker in your text, the audio data will be played at that particular point. You can set the time-marker manual or automatic.

You are also able to set up text elements to be inserted automatically for example the word „Interviewer". Simply insert "@" + "your chosen letter" and hit space.

The history

The software Transcription was and still is developed at the University of Vienna under the leadership of David Haselberg (http://code.google.com/p/transcriptions/). The software is written with Objective-C 2.0 and can therefore be used native with a Macintosh (PowerPC or Intel) using OS X 10.5 Leopard or higher.
